"In an age of overstimulation, learning to listen may be one of the most restorative practices we have." ~ Char Willingham, CalmWired

Char is a Therapeutic Sound Practitioner, Ritual Guide, Nervous System Educator, and registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500, RPYT, YACEP, and AYC Level 3 Yoga Teacher) devoted to exploring the restorative relationship between sound, listening, embodiment, and human resilience. With a background in interdisciplinary movement, somatic practice, yoga, meditation, and contemplative listening, she integrates science, ritual, and sensory-aware practices into accessible pathways for restoration, connection, and embodied awareness.

At the heart of her work is a deep commitment to creating inclusive, calming spaces that support sensitive systems through rhythm, vibration, stillness, and presence. Through a trauma-aware, neuroscience-informed approach, Char works with individuals across the lifespan, including neurodivergent communities, individuals with neurodevelopmental, sensory, and neurocognitive challenges, caregivers, and aging populations, offering practices that foster resilience, connection, and meaningful engagement through sound-centered and embodied experiences.

Through CalmWired, Char offers immersive sound experiences, classes, trainings, and educational programs that bridge contemplative traditions with modern neuroscience. Her work invites people to slow down, listen deeply, and explore the relationship between sound, perception, breath, and embodied awareness through resonance, rhythm, and sensory experience.

Meet Char, Founder & Director of CalmWired

Char Willingham

My path into sound-based practice, embodiment, and nervous system education emerged through decades of movement study, embodied practice, and a deep curiosity about the relationship between the body, stress, resilience, and sensory experience. My background began in dance, biomechanics, corrective exercise, and fitness education before evolving toward more restorative and integrative modalities, including yoga, meditation, somatic practice, and therapeutic sound.

Over time, personal experiences with chronic stress, pain, sensory sensitivity, and nervous system dysregulation led me to explore neuroscience, body-based regulation practices, contemplative traditions, and sound as pathways for restoration, awareness, and reconnection. These studies profoundly reshaped both my teaching and the direction of my work, inspiring a more inclusive approach to listening, sensory awareness, and embodied education.

Today, CalmWired reflects that evolution. Rooted in sound, listening, embodiment, and nervous system literacy, I created this platform to support sensitive systems, including neurodivergent individuals, aging populations, caregivers, and those seeking gentler, more restorative pathways toward regulation and resilience.

At the heart of this work is a belief that healing does not begin through force or performance, but through attunement. Through immersive sound experiences, movement, stillness, and embodied education, CalmWired offers practices that help people reconnect with rhythm, presence, and the body's innate intelligence.
